Soldier’s and Sailor’s Monument in #brooklyn #nyc #ny focusing on the quadriga in #grandarmyplaza . Initially the arch was built without the crowning sculpture. This sculpture depicts the Goddess of Victory riding a 4 horsed quadriga, representing the Union Army, with sword, colors and flagstaff. To the side, angels are trumpeting the victory while leading two of the horses off for peacetime use, representing postwar recovery after the #civilwar photo courtesy of WJW (at Brooklyn, New York)
